Loss-making Korea GP
Park told Autosport magazine that South Korea was keen to keep its grand prix, but he said the event's future depended on whether Ecclestone would let them negotiate a new deal.
"We are trying hard, but we need the co-operation of Mr. Bernie Ecclestone. We certainly want to continue with this event because it is a big event, even though we have losses," he said, in an interview released on Tuesday.
"We want to give this region momentum by holding this event to help boost its economy and to boost the image, and to change our farming background in this region."
Park added that it was "too early for me to say" what would happen if there was no change to the contract. When asked if the race's future depended on a better deal, he said: "Yes. That is right. But we wish to continue."
"He (Ecclestone) knows perfectly well our current situation, and I hope he is more co-operative," Park added.
South Korea became Asia's sixth Formula One host last October, seeking the boost to its prestige and tourism associated with the widely televised event. India will also debut on the circuit next week.
But Park said the event had quickly run into trouble because of the large hosting fee agreed with Formula One before he took up his post this year, with a mandate to slash costs.
Local media reports quoted by Autosport said Sunday's race cost about US$82 million, including a US$55 million fee for hosting and TV rights, against US$25 million in ticket sales. The current contract runs until 2016.
"My main focus has been on reducing the costs as much as possible," said Park. "This is the core issue. Some local people in this region are against the race because of a big financial loss in hosting the race and organising this event.
"Those citizens, who have a background as farmers and are normally poor, want to have the funds distributed for other purposes rather than be used for this so-far unpopular event."
Similar concerns have been voiced by grand prix organisers in China and Australia, while speculation has also been raised about the night race in Singapore where officials are yet to extend their initial five-year deal.

Pregnant celebs
Pregnant women are now viewed as fashion icons, a trend that has fuelled a market in chic maternity clothes. It’s a hot fashion trend to be pregnant, one that brands are capitalising on. “ Maternity clothing is fashionable as the idea is to celebrate your new curves in style, not hide them under layers of clothing,” says Pooja Dhawan, India head of Mothercare, the UK retailer. Maternity fashion shoots and ramp shows are becoming big business now that baby- induced curves are both fashionable and sexy.
The swollen belly has become the new erogenous zone, competing with big breasts. YouTube videos, in fact, have several titillating come- hither images of the swollen pregnant belly. Certainly, celeb culture has challenged the ‘ docile’ image of the female body. It has granted permission to middle- class women to make a public display of their pregnancies and served the purpose of shaking up conflicted and repressed attitudes towards sexuality.
A woman with her big belly on display seems to be saying: Yes, I’m having sex and am proud of it too! She looks for different ways of flaunting her pregnancy. She may keep rubbing and holding her belly in public, gestures designed to attract attention. Big bellies also provide an excuse to wear tees with labels that scream a pregnant status such as: ‘ Eating for Two’; ‘ I’m pregnant, what’s your excuse?’; ‘ Pregnant, not fat’. Other ladies turn online, to Facebook, sticking pictures of their naked, often painted bellies at difference stages of pregnancy.
Whether you like what you see or not isn’t a matter of concern, for the message seems to be: If you don’t want to see my pregnant belly, don’t look. But I’m not gonna hide it either! The docility, maternal altruism and selfsacrifice associated with pregnancy have been replaced by a new aggression that manifests as a flaunting of fertility. For some, a baby bump is an expression of fruitfulness; a growing belly accompanied by glowing skin signifies good health and abundance. For others, it’s proof that their relationship with their partner has reached a ‘ secure’ stage, offering proof that family values and sexual morality still prevail despite the culture of increasing uncertainty.
But shouldn’t we be wary of this public display of what is essentially a private matter? Doesn’t it perpetuate the message that fertility should be celebrated only as long as the fertile are wealthy and glamorous? The petite bumps sported good- looking celebs are like fashion accessories, cultivated through extreme body regimens. There’s no getting away from the reality that gross female pregnancy has no place in this scenario. And that only public displays of pregnancy that interest people are those made by rich, famous and beautiful. So where does that leave you and me?

Pakistan warns Afghanistan
The strategic partnership signed by Afghan President Hamid Karzai on a visit to India on Tuesday added to concerns in Islamabad that New Delhi was increasing its influence on Pakistan's western flank. The deal came at a sensitive time for Islamabad, which is facing renewed accusations by U.S. and Afghan officials of collusion with militants in attacks on Afghan soil.
In Pakistan's first reaction to the deal, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said "this is no time for point scoring, playing politics or grandstanding."
"At this defining stage when challenges have multiplied, as have the opportunities, it is our expectation that everyone, specially those in position of authority in Afghanistan, will demonstrate requisite maturity and responsibility," she told reporters.
President Karzai tried to assuage concern over the agreement Wednesday, saying it was not intended as an aggressive move against Pakistan. He said the pact simply made official years of close ties between India and Afghanistan's post-Taliban government. New Delhi has given significant amounts of civilian aid to Kabul over the last 10 years to build roads, schools and hospitals.
Karzai's words likely carried little weight in Pakistan, which is sandwiched between Afghanistan to its west and India to its east. Pakistan's army has long viewed policy in Afghanistan through one lens: countering the perceived danger of Indian influence in the country.
"The agreement will heighten Pakistan's insecurities," said Talat Masood, an analyst and former Pakistani general. "Pakistan has always felt that it is being encircled by India from both the eastern and western borders."
An editorial in Pakistan's leading English-language newspaper, Dawn, expressed concern that the pact — the first of its kind between Kabul and any country — could "lead to ill-advised efforts to ramp up Pakistani involvement in Afghanistan."
Pakistan and India have fought three wars and been fierce enemies since the two were carved out of British India in 1947.
Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have also been rocky, with many Pakistani officials viewing Karzai as too close to India, where he attended university.
To check India's power in Afghanistan, Pakistan has historically supported Islamist militants like the Taliban who it believes are also opposed to India and its majority Hindu population. Islamabad has also allegedly backed militants who have carried out attacks in Kashmir, an area claimed by both Pakistan and India.
Pakistan maintains it severed ties with the Taliban and other militants following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. But Washington and Kabul say otherwise.
The U.S. has recently accused Pakistan's main spy agency, the ISI, of supporting the Haqqani militant network, which is allied with the Taliban and is suspected of carrying out a recent attack against the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. The group is believed to be based in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal area near the Afghan border.
Afghan's interior minister has accused the ISI of being involved in last month's suicide bombing in Kabul that killed former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani, who was leading the government's U.S-backed effort to talk peace with the Taliban.
Masood, the former general, also expressed concern that Afghanistan's pact with New Delhi could prompt Pakistan to step up support for militant proxies. Washington's growing ties with growing global power India have also made Islamabad suspicious, he said.
"The agreement will further reinforce their feeling that the Americans and the Indians are pursuing a policy toward Afghanistan that is hostile to Pakistan's interests," said Masood.
The Afghan-Indian strategic partnership outlines areas of common concern including trade, economic expansion, education, security and politics. One of its most sensitive provisions stipulates that India will help train and equip Afghanistan's security forces.
India is already helping train more than 100 members of the Afghan national security forces, said an official with the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the coalition was not a signatory to the partnership agreement.
Greater Indian involvement in Afghanistan's security forces would likely spark further concern in Islamabad.
Despite Afghanistan's efforts to strengthen ties with India, analysts and former officials said there were limits to the country's ability to sideline Pakistan, even if it wanted to. One of the most important is geography.
"The imperative of geography is that landlocked Afghanistan will continue to have to look to Pakistan for trade access and related issues for the future," said Maleeha Lodhi, a former Pakistani diplomat.
The Afghan government will also need Pakistan to use its militant links to push forward peace talks with the Taliban, even if Islamabad hasn't done much to help so far, said Hasan-Askari Rizvi, a Pakistani political and defense analyst.
"Moving closer to India is the only strategy available to counter Pakistani pressure," said Rizvi. "But in the long run, Afghanistan can't alienate Pakistan altogether."
Lodhi, the former diplomat, said she hopes Pakistan keeps this bigger picture in mind before making hasty decisions on the security front.

Ban Indian films in Pakistan
'That would help the national film industry develop and thrive.
'There are lots of cinema houses which screen only Indian movies and do not show any interest in playing Pakistani movies. The result is a gradual decline of our own film industry,' it said.
It warned that 'by not banning Bollywood films being shown in every nook and cranny of the country, we would only be letting the Indians succeed in their ploy of invading us culturally'.
The editorial, however, did not go into the details of what it described as cultural invasion.
It claimed that according to the group of Pakistan movie directors, 'certain self-seeking individuals associated with Lollywood are reaping huge benefits by making huge investments in India'.
The editorial added that the government should not only ban Indian films from Pakistan's cinema houses, 'but also from the various private TV channels that keep broadcasting them'.
'The policy of letting India disseminate its culture freely in Pakistan is dealing a serious financial blow to the Lollywood industry and polluting the minds of the youth,' it said.

Accused Of Bank Robbery
An informant told San Leandro police a day after the holdup that the suspect's nickname was "Boston" and that he had "beat a murder rap" in Massachusetts, Wimbley wrote. Local media reports said Sanders was acquitted of gunning down a rival gang member on a bus.
Boston police positively identified Sanders from a bank surveillance photo, and he was arrested June 16 by San Leandro police. At the time of his arrest, Sanders had an earring but no gold "grill," the affidavit said. The demand note included fingerprints belonging to both Sanders and the informant, authorities said.
"I know based on training and experience that bank robbers will fabricate gold "grills" to create misidentifications," Wimbley wrote.

Civil Liberties
'People who enlist themselves for such a cause must, therefore, take pride in their ability to honestly discharge their duties.'
Though he did not name the anti-graft movement of Anna Hazare, who sat on a 12-day fast at Ramlila Maidan in the capital in August demanding a strong Lokpal bill, his reference to the anti-corruption protest was more than an indication.
'Crowd control techniques in a democracy, where people often rigorously vent their opinions and sometimes their frustrations, have to strike a fine balance between the requirement to maintain law and order and the imperative of using absolutely minimum non-lethal force,' he said.
Noting that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which had to deal with stone-pelting by protesters last summer, had improved their capabilities considerably in this regard, the prime minister said: 'We need to be keep looking at newer methods and methodologies and technologies of handling demonstrations.'
Reiterating his call made at the recent National Integration Council meeting against perceived biases, sometimes, of the law enforcement and investigation agencies against minorities, Singh said the existence of such a perception 'is inimical to effective policing', which must necessarily draw upon the confidence and cooperation of all sections of the population it served.
'I would like you to consider ways and means to deal with the causes of such perception wherever they exist,' he appealed.
Manmohan Singh said these were 'difficult and challenging times' for the country's security forces.
'Our social fabric continues to be targeted by organised terrorism, abetted by misguided zeal and false propaganda among the youth and the marginalised sections of society,' he said.
Manmohna Singh noted that the security forces had to contend with Left-wing militancy, parochial and chauvinistic movements, and tensions caused by social-economic imbalances and inequity, and also by rapid urbanisation.
'Policing the metropolitan areas, the control of organised of crime and the protection of women and the elderly require special attention,' he said.
'While dealing firmly with these challenges, our police forces must function within the bounds of a democratic framework, within which the democratic rights of our people are scrupulously respected and upheld. I am sure that if our forces are led ably and guided properly, they will find themselves more than equal to the task, daunting though they are,' he added.

Sacrificing Civil Liberties
According a survey public accepted some government intrusions than other.
The survey showed that 71 percent supported the use of surveillance cameras in public places as it would help to watch suspicious activities, but fewer than half favored the use of a national ID card, the Daily News reports.
Fifty-eight percent were in favor of random full-body scans at airports, while 35 percent were in favor of ethnic or racial profiling to determine who gets screened, the survey revealed.
The poll also revealed that nearly half of Americans believe the government should be allowed to read emails sent outside the US without a warrant, but that drops to under a third for emails sent inside the country, the report said.
Half of the people surveyed believed that they have lost some personal freedoms since September 11 attack, and half of those said it 'wasn't necessary'.

Action Against Om Puri
Congress MPs Praveen Singh Aron, Jagdambika Pal, Vinay Pandey, Harsh Vardhan, P.L. Punia and Kamal Kishor, as also Mirza Mehboob Beg (National Conference) and Ramashankar Rajbhar (Bahujan Samaj Party) have given notices against Puri for using 'derogatory and defamatory words against members of parliament and also casting reflections on the house'.
The Samajwadi Party's Premdas Katheria and Shailendra Kumar have also given notices against the Bollywood actor, known for his roles in films as varied as 'Ardh Satya', 'West is West' and 'Chachi 420'.
Puri apologised and said he wasn't drunk as some people had said, just emotionally charged.
'I respect the parliament and the costitutional body. I am very proud to be an Indian. It was wrong on my part to use such terms. I wasn't drunk, I was just emotionally charged, such things do come from mouth.....even our politicians at times, in a fit of anger, use such things,' Om told CNN-IBN.
'I would love to be there (in the parliament) to explain my emotions... the forum which leaders like Sardar Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru have been a part of. If they (parliament) are still angry with me I will take whatever punishment they give me,' the actor added.
The 60-year-old actor created a stir Friday with his speech attacking politicians. He told the thousands gathered that he feels 'ashamed when an IAS or IPS officer salutes a ganwar (illiterate) who is a neta (political leader)'.
'Yeh anpadh hain, inka kya background hai? Aadhe se zyaada MP ganwaar hain...,' the well known actor said.

Pandit says Citigroup now 'a different company
Similar comments came from the Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan as shares of the two giants and other US financial firms bounced back Tuesday from their biggest single-day drop in two years.
Citigroup plunged 16 percent Monday to trade at half its book value, but gained back nearly 14 percent Tuesday. BofA shares too jumped 17 percent after Monday's 20 percent drop.
'Not only is it a fundamentally different time, but we are a fundamentally different company,' Pandit said in his message, adding that the bank has been profitable for six quarters, is making investments in every region, has derisked its balance sheet and shed $519 billion in non-core assets.
'These actions have contributed to the unquestionable financial strength Citi has built over the past several years,' he said, noting the bank's strong capital ratios and liquidity base.
Pandit said what has changed this time around is that investors are looking for 'return of capital' and not 'increased capital levels.'
'The companies which have fared better relatively are the ones who have announced plans to return capital to shareholders and our goal is still to return capital next year,' said Pandit.
Pandit told staff that the recent sell off was a call to action. 'Call on your clients. Let them know about the unparalleled resources we have to help them navigate through these challenging times. This is the time to remind them that we have been with them for 200 years and will be there for them day in and day out.'
'The most important point to remember is that our company remains financially strong,' Moynihan wrote in his memo to employees. 'We do not know how long this period of uncertainty will continue,' he wrote, 'but we have weathered challenging times before and we will now.'

The Importance of Physical Education
Physical activity offers a broad range of benefits, including the prevention of obesity, improved self confidence, and an overall sense of well-being. Physical education programs within the school setting can set the stage for how children view physical fitness, activity levels, and future health. Physical education programs also include general health and safety information in addition to providing opportunities for students to learn how to cooperate with one another in a team setting.
A Lifetime of Health The school setting provides a structured atmosphere in which to incorporate physical health activities and ideally develop healthy habits for life. Studies indicate that promotion of a healthy lifestyle taught in physical education classes can influence long-term health benefits such as reduced rates of obesity, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Perhaps just as importantly, physical education programs can teach students that physical activity can be fun. With a broad range of games and activities, children are exposed to forms of exercise that don't simply involve running around a track. Games and other activities incorporate teamwork, strategy, skill-building exercises, and fun. Nutritional Information Physical education classes are ideal for introducing basic nutritional concepts to children. Poor eating habits are common among many children and adolescents; however, a solid foundation in healthy eating choices can help lay the groundwork for improved food choices. Children who eat regular, healthy meals consisting of a wide range of food choices concentrate better in school and are less disruptive. Healthy eating also decreases the chances of children developing serious health problems early in life and reduces obesity rates among youth and into adulthood. Life Skills Physical education also provides an opportunity for children to develop critical life skills, such as problem solving, strategy, and working together. Many team sports require participants to work together to achieve a goal. Children also learn the basics of good sportsmanship and that there is much more to sports and physical activities than simply winning or losing. Sports require training, mental and physical preparation, and help build self-confidence. Mental Health Regular physical activity has shown to have many psychological and mental benefits in addition to the physical ones. For example, regular exercise can reduce feelings of depression and anxiety and promote an overall sense of well-being. The increased blood flow during exercise transports oxygen to all parts of the body, including the brain, which can help improve memory and reasoning skills. Conversely, a lack of oxygen, which can result from not enough deep breathing, can lead to disorientation, confusion, fatigue, and memory and concentration difficulties. |

Indian Services Growth
India's services sector expanded at its slowest pace in 20 months in May as soaring prices and interest rate hikes gnawed at new business growth and reduced the level of optimism, a survey showed on Friday. The seasonally adjusted HSBC Markit Business Activity Index, based on a survey of over 400 firms, slipped to 55.0 in May from 59.2 in April, marking its twenty-fifth successive month above the 50 level that divides growth from contraction. While the latest reading underlines a reasonably solid pace of growth in the services sector, its decline is an indication that continuous rate rises aimed at containing inflation are putting the brakes on India's rapid expansion. All sub-indexes saw a fall when compared to April, with the exception of input costs and employment. New business received by service companies remained strong but the pace of expansion slowed with the sub-index falling to its lowest level since October last year. Among the sub-indexes, business expectations saw the steepest fall to 67.8 in May from 72.8 in April, as respondents, though confident of the sector's performance over the next 12 months, slightly tempered expectations as economic uncertainty loomed. Data released earlier this week showed Asia's third-largest economy grew at its slowest annual pace in five quarters in January to March as consecutive interest rate hikes, aimed at reigning in soaring inflation, began to take effect. Gross domestic product rose 7.8 percent from a year earlier, lower than 8.3 percent in the previous quarter and below the median 8.2 percent forecast in a Reuters poll. While weaker-than-expected growth might cause the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise rates in smaller increments, the survey showed price pressures will persist. Input costs increased markedly in May due to rising wage bills and raw material costs. Further inflation pressures are expected as the economy braces for an increase in government-controlled prices of diesel and cooking fuels. |

Build Work Experience For A Great First Job
It is rare that you have a choice to make regarding your work assignments or not. However, if you really do, you must be on the lookout for a part-time job or work project on the lines of the career you want to pursue in the future. For example, if you wish to become a corporate communications professional, you could find job work or assignments with the Department of Communication Studies or any other related discipline. Build Work Experience You must also work on developing adequate work experience. This will be a kick start to surviving in the increasing cut-throat competition, when you are really on the look out in the industry searching for your first ever full-time job. Internships, Summer Trainings and Volunteering Opportunities Another good way to develop quality work experience is to look out for internships or summer trainings or even opportunities for volunteering in varied projects and events. If these trainings are paid, good for you, but even if they are not, they add tonnes about you to your resume. If you aspire to be a journalist or a writer, you could opt as a volunteer for your resident campus magazine, newspaper or even your college's or department's journal or newsletter. If you aim to be a social worker, you could be a regular visitor to old age homes, poverty stricken areas and homeless shelters. Similarly, if you aspire to get into stocks as a broker, you could look for summer training or an internship at a firm dealing in stocks and securities. Become a tutor if you specialize in a particular art or science Working for somebody is not the only channel these days to make some money. You might be a champ in a particular subject, say computer dynamics. So you could just gather some students who require assistance with the subject and tutor them. Similarly, if you are fond of children, you could approach professors or other personnel in your college and offer to baby-sit their children. You just need to channelize your energies, get your talent in action and be a successful young entrepreneur. |

Telemarketing Is Best Option
Pesky calls from telemarketers may continue to nag customers for some more time as the telecom regulator TRAI is likely to extend its March 21 deadline again. "We have not received the landline number series yet from the Department of Telecom (DoT). Unless that is given, it will be difficult for telemarketers to operate from mobile network. We have not decided the next date but actual date will be soon," Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman J S Sarma told reporters here. The deadline has already been extended three times. The regulation was to be initially implemented on January 1, 2011. It was later extended to February 1 and then a second extension to March 1 was made for implementing the regulation. DoT has issued mobile numbers starting with "140" to help subscribers identify telemarketing calls. Similarly, a series is to be allocated for landline numbers. DoT sources say the delay in issuing the landline series is because there could be a security breach at telecom exchange level. "Most of the work in case of landlines is done manually. Fixed line network is not automatic as mobile network is. Identification in case of fixed line is done through manual process, a DoT official said. At present, if any call from landline comes, then it can be identified based on STD code - the initial digits - and then levels (digits following STD codes) which differ from exchange to exchange within a city. In case identifiable series of ''140'' is used, it will impact the numbering system being used at present for allocating new connections. Also, it will be difficult for security agencies to track calls as it will display uniform code instead of STD code for connections across the country, the official said. |

Market Awaits Bold Strategy
Nokia's wisdom in picking outsider Stephen Elop to return it to its former glory will be tested on Friday when the new chief executive reveals his plans to transform the world's biggest cellphone maker. Following a leaked memo in which Elop candidly described the need to leap from Nokia's "burning platform", speculation has intensified that he will announce a radical switch to use software from rivals Microsoft or Google. The world's biggest cellphone maker warned on Jan. 27 of a grim start to 2011, sending its shares plunging, but the stock swiftly recovered after Elop flagged the possible change of software strategy. Ahead of Friday's strategy update in London, Nokia shares traded down 1.8 percent at 1055 GMT on Thursday, underperforming a 0.8 percent-weaker European technology index but still up 16 percent from their Jan. 27 low. Nokia has rapidly lost share in the higher-margin smartphone market to the likes of Apple's iPhone , and products based on Google's Android platform claimed the top spot from the company last quarter. In a bid to stem the losses, Chairman Jorma Ollila brought in Elop from Microsoft last September , the first non-Finn to head the company. The 47-year-old Canadian knows he faces major challenges: in the leaked memo he compared Nokia's position to a man on a burning oil platform, wondering whether he dares to jump. Nokia's MeeGo platform, its would-be answer to the high-end competition, is as yet unproven, and its workhorse Symbian software has little appeal among developers. Sources have told Reuters the company has ditched its first MeeGo smartphone project, and Elop himself said in the memo the company might get only one MeeGo device to the market this year. After Elop raised the possibility of a change in smartphone software, many market followers expect Nokia to adopt either Google's Android or go for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7. However, picking Android would cede some control to key rival Google, while success in the wireless industry has so far eluded Microsoft. The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Microsoft and Nokia were in talks about Windows Phone 7. Microsoft and Nokia declined to comment. "Two turkeys do not make an eagle," Google's Vice President of Engineering Vic Gundotra tweeted this week, in a reference to ex-Nokia executive Anssi Vanjoki's comment on the ill-fated 2005 merger of Siemens and BenQ's cellphone operations. Elop is also set to unveil longer-term forecasts, after limiting financial forecasts on Jan. 27 to the first quarter. He could also unveil a major management shake-up, with some reports suggesting four top managers would be sacked. "If we hear tomorrow anything negative at all, the share might react very strongly," said one Helsinki-based analyst. |

How To Get A Head Start On A Career Overseas
Getting a job in a development organisation is not so easy these days because many of the poorest countries have work permit restrictions, qualified national applicants, and plenty of candidates who want to work there. Without a unique qualification, many years of experience, and some knowledge of a foreign language you will probably not even get an interview. On the other hand, foreign language skill and even a short period of overseas experience will help you to obtain connections and qualifications that will set you apart from other candidates.
You can learn a foreign language at home and then polish it overseas on a short-term volunteer assignment, or you can head overseas as a volunteer and obtain both language and experience simultaneously.
Longer volunteer programs are run by governments and include Peace Corps (US) and VSO (UK) and others, and also Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) such as Food For The Hungry, World Vision, and Rotary. These usually give the volunteer a small stipend, basic living and travel expenses and language training as well as taking care of visa requirements. Some Mission Boards also offer similar programs which are worth considering.
You can also organize your own volunteer experience by teaming up with a small private school or university and offering to teach for them while learning the language. In some cases they will provide you with some form of stipend, but at the least they will help with your visa application. These arrangements can vary in length from several weeks to a year or more.
Students can often arrange to complete their thesis and data collection on location and gain valuable language and cultural information at the same time. NGOs are often happy to sponsor such students in return for access to their research.
Volunteers of all kinds will need to live economically, which can be quite stressful but has the advantage of helping you to identify more with local people. It is often possible to live with a local family if you are only there for a short time, rather than setting up house for yourself. This gives you greater insight into their lives and many opportunities to improve your language.
With some language under your belt, and even brief experience overseas you will have a great advantage when submitting your applications for positions, and you may even make valuable contacts during your period as a volunteer.
